Hi, I'm Jorge.
I've spent the last 10+ years climbing trees and encouraging everyone around me to climb them, too. Actually, I've been climbing trees (and pretty much anything else I could get a grip on) for a whole lot longer than that.
As a kid growing up in Peru, I was lucky to have a lot of freedom to explore the Andes mountains, Colca Canyon, Misti Volcano, and other incredible natural attractions around me. My brother and I taught ourselves how to fly paragliders by the age of 14, we set up a zip line in our back yard, and we got ourselves lost more times than I can count. We had plenty of time to torment our pet llama with packages of cookies, too.
As a teenager, I looked for a way to turn my love of nature and adventure sports into a career. Walking onto a college campus with no idea of what I was going to study, I looked up and saw an instructor swinging around in a tree. I knew in an instant that tree climbing was my destiny. I spent the earlier part of my career focused on studying and taking care of big trees. I diagnosed sick trees, took down injured trees when necessary, and trimmed more trees than you can imagine. Heck, I even got to spend 4 months volunteering at the world's only sloth rescue center stimulating their trees to produce enough leaves for the sloths to eat.
One of my greatest accomplishments was representing my chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture in Australia and in the United States, climbing with the best tree climbers from around the world. And in 2011-2012, I was ranked as the #12 tree climber in the world. Today my passion is helping people connect with and appreciate trees. Whether you're looking for a high-energy adventure or a soul-cleansing journey, time in the trees can provide it all. I look forward to getting you up in a tree! Jorge
